SOMERSET RURAL MUSIC SCHOOL SATURDAY MUSIC CENTRE STAFF / DESK NEWS MARCH 29 2008 FINAL WEEK Available on line – www.tasatmusac.org.uk TODAY Today we say farewell to three tutors. CHRIS BALL Chris has been teaching on a Sat Am since Castle School days and he will be greatly missed not the least for his superb Donald Swan performances. His pupils will be taken by Andrew Hinkley. LOUIS DUDDERIDGE Louis came as a student drum/guitar teacher in his first year at Richard Huish College. In this, his gap year, he has things to do now in preparation for a further education course this September. ALISON GOODYEAR Alison joined to teach piano for us last September but yesterday we learnt that due to a severe chest infection, for Alison suffers from chronic asthma, not only will she not be here this morning, but medical advice is that she should remove herself from all sources of potential infection in the future. We wish her a speedy return to health. Her pupils will be covered from existing resources at present. WELCOME We welcome John Young as a visitor this morning. John was educated at Wellington School where the Director of Music was David Horwood. It was David who joined me in setting up the SRMS. John then went on to read music at Durham where he was a fellow student with my daughter Jane. He has recently returned to the area after many years and is teaching locally as well as taking up an appointment as Organist and Choirmaster at St John's Wellington. END OF TERM Please make sure that all students are reminded that this is the final session of the term and we return on Saturday, April 26th. Staff need to return registers this morning which should include your completed claim form plus a SAE. Don't worry about the stamp. I will hope to get cheques to your home as soon as possible SEPTEMBER 2008 Discussions are in the final stages as to the arrangements for next September. After so many years I will probably turn up in my pyjamas on the first session pursued by the matron of whatever residential home for retired Sat Am directors will have me.
